Schizophrenia - The ALTERNATIVE FIX


Do you know someone between 12 and 30 who is delusional? An holistic shrink I know (David Shannahoff-Khalsa), says: "Stopping medications without guidance and thinking that pills and Kundalini Yoga alone would suffice to alleviate delusions.... is sure to invite trouble for the patient. Almost always schizophrenics that are on medications for  hallucinating ---start hallucinating as soon as they go off, especially if they abandon meds rapidly. They need the medication but suffer severely from most if not all of these medications and experience very unpleasant side effects mentally and metabolically, (way way increased statistic of heart attacks later.) Often the medications lead to metabolic syndromes. However, I have had success with the MOST disciplined patients in greatly reducing meds to minimal levels where these side effects are almost non-existent, and sometimes getting patients off completely. But only when they are doing an hour a day using the appropriate Kundalini yoga protocols. These are indeed some of the most challenging patients that I have worked with, but also ones that can benefit a great deal to completely turn their lives around and again live productive lives.

He teaches a meditative method whereby schizies can trank out. If your child is hearing voices and wants to not take psych meds --don't quit all at once. First have him learn this magic mudhra. Tell him that if he gets good at staying even and balanced with the yoga, then he can have off the drugs. That will motivate him to master the technique.

1) Sit straight, rest the back of one hand in the palm of the other with
the thumbs crossing each other in one palm. If the right hand rests in
the palm of the left hand, the left thumb rests in the right palm and
the right thumb then crosses over the back of the left thumb. The hands
are placed at heart center level a few inches in front of the chest, but
the hands do not touch the chest, and the elbows are resting down
against the rib cage. The eyes are open but focused on the tip of the
nose (the tip/end you cannot see). The sides of the nose will look
blurry but the nose looks to be of normal size.

2.) The breathing pattern has 4 parts that repeat in sequence.

A.) NOSE ONLY. first inhale and exhale slowly through the nose only,

B.) MOUTH ONLY. inhale through the mouth with the lips puckered as if to
kiss or making a whistle, after the inhalation relax the lips and exhale
through the mouth slowly.

C.) NOSE MOUTH. then inhale through the nose and exhale through the
mouth, then

D.) MOUTH NOSE. the last breath pattern is inhaling through the puckered
lips and exhaling through the nose.

Continue this cycle of 4 for 11 to 31 min. Slow the breath and make the
breath very deep. This is a simple technique that can have profound
results for beginners and takes the practitioner into a state of extreme
well-being and deep inner peace.

If you aren't schizy, just have insomnia, the meditation works to throw you into deep sleep. Probably
within a minute if it is night time and you are tired. In that case, you
can do it lying down under the covers, head on pillow, ready to drift off.

NOTE: If the schizophrenic patient is on psych meds and wants off as the meds
make him feel robotic, tired, stupid, and is, of course, making him fat
and giving him heart problems down the road, which these drugs do, shortening
the lifespan, --then this can replace the drugs. He can maintain alert but non-schiz
intensity, not space out into the Wild Kingdom, and conserve his heart
and venous health throughout his life.w

It takes a day of practice to remember the sequence, then he's set for life. You can
let him go out into the world, he can do it at bus stops, in parks, in cafes if he feels
the alternative world closing in on him. The subjective world of his skewed perceptions.

They say:  Vitamin B3 (niacin or niacinamide req'd but if patient hates the FLUSH feeling) 0.5 2 grams 3 times daily. But start at 25 mgs and work up very slowly. Vitamin B6 (for many) 250-500 mg daily.

A general B vitamin formula. or Calves liver or Cow liver once a week, fried lightly in onions. 

Vitamin C, 3 or more grams daily.
Zinc (gluconate or citrate) 50 mg daily.
Manganese 15-30 mg daily (if there is danger of tardive dyskinesia).
Omega 3 essential fatty acids rich in EPA and less rich in DHA. The best preparation contains three times as much EPA as it does DHA. Four large capsules twice daily Google " Kirunal." a good formula
Folic acid as green vegies, salads, swiss chard, beet greens, mallow, dandelion, chicory salads or in soups.
