SNAP YOUR FINGERS & food appears! Thanks to the FEDERAL GOV!My jobless nearly senior pal in Connecticut needed some kind of welfare. He asked around, found you needed to have dependent children to get TANF (was once called AFDC) I suggested he get General Relief .. and he told me it does exist in his state, but only in some counties. "So far, I have found no evidence that it is available in mine. Of course, there's SNAP, but that only takes care of food, and it remains to be seen how well it handles that. It's better than nothing, though." he sighed and went to see if he'd qualify. (I will post update here, soon as he responds. He needs to EAT first.)
SNAP? I had never heard of it. But apparently that's the new name for FOOD STAMPS! I guess it's an onomatopoetic thing -- you know, the sound a hungry person makes when a cookie is held in front of his nose? SNAP!!!!

State Application Information for California
For a SNAP application find the SNAP office nearest you in California that would be Information/Hotline Number: 1-877-847-FOOD. Two minute wait to get talked to. Recording keeps saying 'go to website'. But stay on the line. The girl told me folks with SSI disability money even if only one penny, cannot get EBT (food stamps,) ergo can't SNAP on FOOD no how no way.

Google your state. Maybe California's wired differently from your state.
