Details Emerge on Mummified Body Found in Car
Homeless senior woman reportedly drove her car for months with another homeless senior woman's mummified body in the passenger seat!
I'm the Mummy. Yes. Sad, isn't it. I was jobless, homeless, lived
in my chum's car. I am educated, had a long career working with damaged children.
A tad too young to get Social Security, I learned too late that
senior services are just for seniors.
More details have emerged about the body of a woman who was found mummified in the passenger seat of a real-estate agent's car nearly a year after she died.
Police found the body of 59-year-old Signe Margit of Laguna Hills in a 1997 Mercury Marquis last week after responding to a report that the vehicle was parked illegally. Police say they found the body hidden under some clothing in the passenger seat of the car in an advanced state of decomposition. The woman may have died up to 10 months earlier.
Margit's background remained a mystery until authorities were able to contact her family. Police have now learned she was a highly educated woman who held two master's degrees and had been working with special education students for LAUSD, (Los Angeles United School District.) according to the Los Angeles Times. She had fallen on hard times and become homeless.
Margit befriended a 57-year-old former real estate agent after meeting at Mile Square Regional Park in Fountain Valley. The two agreed Margit could sleep in the former agent's car in December 2009, nearly a year ago. (That's very kind. Would you let a homeless woman sleep in YOUR car?) The driver herself was in financial difficulties and had been staying at a friend's house, police said. Officers declined to identify her.
When Police found Margit's body, it had been reduced to about 30 pounds, with the lack of air and weather conditions at the time helping to preserve it.
The driver said she had been too afraid to call the police after she found the body and continued to drive the with it inside. "This person was somewhat used to the smell," Costa Mesa Police Sgt. Ed Everett said.
No cause of death has been released. Police are awaiting toxicology tests from the coroner, which could take weeks. No charges have been filed in the case.

How do two, educated, high-earning women fall apart and sink to this level? Both homeless and one of them sleeping in a car for months on end until she died there. Try --the system failed them. <CLICK TO SEE SOME OF THE WAYS AGENCIES FAIL THE PEOPLE, DUE TO CRAZY REGULATIONS and SOMETIMES CITY GREED.
We know cities are broke, but there are BUDGETS for aid to the disenfranchised, needy, crippled, seniors and jobless. The sudden drying UP of those poverty budgets are the Wall Street/ Fannie Mae tulipmania which busted the Real Estate market into four million pieces of homeless bodies. Blame a Permanent War Economy, ensuing recession, joblessness, no hiring of college grads much less seniors. Try that tiny border zone between 'society is finished with you' in your 50's and the age of getting a pension or social security which is 65. Try a lifetime of freelance work where there ARE no pensions or where you didn't pay into the system or have W-2's. . Two lovely elegant, bright, educated, talented, hard working senior girls not addled at all but all the same, they fell into a crack and got snapped in half. The Mummy, Signe Margit (above,) went jobless, homeless first. Her friend 'nameless' let her park the car outside her condo and use the bathroom but it wasn't enough. Signe died. The friend possibly felt guilty, ergo the 'doing nothing, letting it go' syndrome. Me, I'd have dumped that body at L.A. harbor on the first foggy night and have been done with my guilt. But maybe too many people knew that Signe was living with Ms. Nameless, sort of kind of living with her......so any body dumping action would have been severely misconstrued. That is probably why she did nothing. Just like the system that never spotted these two old girls in distress. A system that has geriatric care services which help people who fall apart after age 65 but not those who fall apart earlier. Ergo we have the case of a Mommy Mummy in a Mercury Marquis or How to Live and Die in California. The 7th biggest economy on the planet after USA/ FRANCE/ GERMANY and JAPAN. One which couldn't give a sandwich to either of these two sad sisters.
