FORGET DOCTOR MENGELE and his concentration camp torture-experimentation! As the law stands today, American psychiatrists have a Hitler-given right to tinker mercilessly with the brains of boys and girls unlucky enough to fall into State mental hospitals. For most doctors, booklore on scientific realities goes along with a medical degree and the right to practice. Not so in the area of the psyche. Almost everything known about the psyche and the foundational workings of the brain is hazy and ill-defined especially in the case of the mentally ill.
A doctor's 'take' can be entirely subjective and all his own projection yet nobody argues. The Emperor of this unknown Magic Kingdom was Sigmund Freud who flew by the seat of his pants. Psych lore became doctrine when Sigmund said it. All schools, Horney, Adler, even Jung, provened from his lightbulbs. No other corner of the vast acreage of science is left to one healer's intuition. What happened in the area of the crazy IS crazy!
A doctor's personal belief system isn't a problem when care is kind, well-intentioned, attuned to the patient and based on liturgy. A good example would be Doctor Gregory House of the amusing TV show "HOUSE". At least House struggles to define in terms of scientific doctrine but State Mental hospitals are full of docs flying by the seat of their pants tinkering with 'prisoners' and we all know what jailers can do to them.
Abu Grahib Experimentation, Aushwitz level torture. There are no concentration camp tinkerers like State Mental hospital shrinks. They are truly the bottom of the barrel and the shame of medicine They harass and demean the patient while they tune out their feelings, whimperings, perceptions or needs. Hospital tyrants with PHD's have no shame barriers concerning RX-ing mind-altering chemicals which seem to be the only treatments for today's warehoused crazies who become no more than vegetables in a giant carrot cooler. The hospital can bill the state for tons of money for expensive drugs, make guinea pigs of humans keep PHARM industry earning 150 billion a year.
Doing this there is no chance that one day a madhouse Mengele will discover a cure. He may self justify his Subsidized research on caged guinea pigs which for any other legit doctor would be a wetdream but he's nothing than a swollen ego dictator living a fantasy and PharmHarm continues to be a merry carousel of one pill after another force-fed to patients by burly psych techs. There are plenty of nasty side-effects: overweight, diabetes and heart attacks are the big three unless you count thoughts of suicide, constipation, walking stupor, depression, zombie ambulatory sleep states that are torture to these mentally alive boys and girls, often eccentrics, mostly manic depressive or schizophrenics and 99% of the time non-violent.
Schizophrenia untreated could be a fun and productive illness, full of drama, conspiracy plots, odd beliefs, fears, acute philosophical perceptions about life on Earth. Among famed schizophrenics, Akira Kirosawa, whose vision(s) made 40 famous Japanese film a ton of money abroad and have never been surpassed on any level. Dozens of philosphers and authors were outta their trees, totally schizoid the most well known was Nietzsche but dual personality Jean Jacques Rousseau qualifies. Famed "NATURAL MAN"? This louse put all five of his children in orphanages at birth and lived with a woman who'd tolerate it so he is my nomination for hypocrite.
Famed psychiatrist philosopher author R.D. Laing had frequent stays in the loony bin and CREATED the PHILOSOPHY of "LET THEM BE WIRED THAT WAY". Famed Japanese Film Maker/ director writer AKIRA KIROSAWA locked up at times. Not all crazies write a dozen great books like LAING or do fifty films like AKIRA. All this proves that doctors should let crazies be allowed to grow like exotic vines, farmed, fertilized sought after and consulted as Laing was but I'd bet shrinks don't read Laing, they're too busy reading pharmaceutical literature found in pill bottles. Mentally 'ill' people are sensitive and are less harmful to us than the general public. Crazies have many valid beliefs that are not the least bit pedestrian, such as: people earn karmic retribution when they're mean; God is watching and keeping score; UFO's visit us; aliens walk among us and are watching and taking notes; guardian angels hang by our shoulders and can talk to us; a race of Reptiles controls the Earth. The oligarchs are lighting chem trails to kill us all and putting poisons in the water and toothpaste. And GM food is designed to kill us as are vaccinations. Actually these are all fairly common and even accurate delusions. Proven by the fact cancer rates have skyrocketed in the last century.
Many people report bad karma smashing real sons of bitches who didn't get away with their Evil. Many hear auditory hallucination that are accurate. Emergency disembodied verbal admonitions, like 'get off the highway now' in their dead aunt's voice right before a massive twelve car pile-up. I once heard the words 'there is going to be a big earthquake' and took my china off the top shelves for the 1994 Northridge quake and even had time to warn alot of my friends. A few days LATER, the big one! I think it is ghosts, my AUNT, GRANDMA, EX BF who checked out at age 90. I think great souls can watch over us.
Or that "CONNECTED TO THE TRIBE" reptile brain rumor might be true. An actual vestigal, reptile brain does linger in the human proven by all those primitive types of men who want to be the alpha lizard and seek predominancy thru politics, Hitler, Bush Sr. Cheney TRUMP and Stalin being good examples. Another favorite delusion of a state mental hospital dweller: my psych tech is a shape shifting reptile who gets off with his sadistic predominancy. Fun stuff really, like being stuck in a James Cameron movie 24/7 so why drug those perceptions out of existence? Drugs take away the schizophrenic state so that shrinks and psych techs don't have to listen to people's feelings, or 'fantastic' which they consider drivel ----- That only proves the shrinks are made of aluminum, are without feelings and are just plain mean-spirited about anyone who has a feeling. Take it from me, mental hospitals and the workers in them have some very bad karma and nobody knows that better than the patients (my youngest son) and that's probably the ULTIMATE reason shrinks drug 'em.
