STOP GAMBLING WITH YOUR LIFE; START MAKING MONEY
Some time ago I read this story online and I copied it down. "My friend, DOUG, was filling out a Lotto form. I’d never seen one before so I asked him to explain the system and his likelihood of winning. He said "Look it’s easy. Just pick 6 numbers out of 44 in any order and you have a chance to win a million." I asked him what that chance cost. "A buck a game. I’ve been spending ten bucks a week (500$ a year) for the last 15 years. (8 thousand dollars roughly) I’ve won a few small ones (giving him back a fiver here and there) but reckon the big one’s bound to come up soon."
I looked more closely at the form. "Ten bucks a week eh. Hmm." I started to do some mental calculations. "Look Doug, I think your chances of winning a million bucks on Lotto are pretty remote. You spend ten bucks a week or over 500$ a year, and your chances of winning the big one are 40 times 6 over 44 times 5 over 43 times 4 over 42 times 3 over 41 times 2 over 40 times over 39. The way I see it you’ve got an even money chance of winning the Lotto if you bought 40 tickets a week for the next 1,500 years. Why don’t you win Lotto the way I did?" I could see I now had his full attention. "When did you win Lotto?" "That’s just a figure of speech Doug. I’ve been winning Lotto every month or so for 20 years and I’ve never bought a ticket. I just made twenty grand not buying tickets, put it into very carefully chosen stocks and made two million. For once he was speechless which, if you know Doug, is saying something!"
That was the story I read. I agreed with its principles so I copied that story down. There are lots of easier ways to get rich than gambling. In LOTTO, The only ones who get rich out of gambling are the promoters. Why don’t you try this way: You take your ten bucks a week and bank it for fifteen years until you’ve got enough to buy a few shares of whatever’s timely. Right now it would be war toy stocks, facial recognition stocks and eyeball readers like Envision, but always good, especially in a slow market, an index fund. They make money even when mutual funds don’t. Very low cost in fees/ services, too. To study the STOCK MARKET read my training file, INVEST!
Now of course, you could also go hog wild on the NYSE. In a momentary drop in the market, Blue chip, GE. Northrop, whatever, it doesn’t matter. After ten years you’ll be amazed to discover your 20 thousand dollars of NON-Lotto money has ballooned out to between ten and twenty thousand dollars no matter how lousy an investor you’ve been. You take this and put it down as a deposit on a small commercial property. The rent you charge other people to live in this house will repay the bank loan and interest in another ten years. At the end of the time you’ll have a property worth $250,000 plus." "What? You mean it’ll take me twenty years to make money? I think I’ll stick to Lotto. It’s a lot quicker than that." "Doug, you’ve already invested 20 years and twenty thousand dollars into Lotto tickets and you’re still broke."
There is an easier way. You can be enormously successful in this life and you don’t have to gamble or wait twenty years. But you will have to invest some serious effort into changing your thinking in order to tip the odds in your favor. Fortunately for you, most people are feckless. They mostly just go with the flow, chasing after the ball like third-graders, never thinking. Put in even a modest effort into outsmarting the game, by reading a simple book on real estate, like How I turned 5$ into 5 Million in Real Estate, by Nickerson, an old classic. I hear there’s a new one that people are talking about and seem to like, Rich Father Poor father can’t recall author some name like Rob Nitaki. American Japanese. Go to http://www.abebooks.com and put that title into the search bar. You’ll find used copies all over America for a buck or two. Nickerson book also but it's over 100$ as it's out of print. Look for it at garage sales, thrift stores where vendors don't have a clue how hot it is..
