Now, there are sharp edges in cut off points all over.. If you earn over 7k a year from any one client, they have to send a W2 form and you don't want that to happen. These boss guys' IRS accounts are Swiss Cheese, super traceable. So explain nicely to your clients why it's cash only from Sept to Dec. Cuz you already hit that 7k point!

Next thing, study the current poverty line well, (above at top,) look at your W2s and your last TAX FORM from last year you paid on income --( always keep copies,) then if it's under Federal Guide Line for poverty, ask your UTILITY company to cut you the jobless person's lower rate. And you will be rewarded with huge cuts in cost of your natural gas, light, water, sewer charges, phones.

Median Household Income: $61,017IT IS MUCH WORSE NOW! as these are three years old, it's now Sept 2010 and one in SIX lives in poverty sez Federal Gov. So what I'm saying is, it's important to apply for poverty rates for your utilities! Nobody's ever gonna find out. Except one HEAP employee and you will save enough money anually for children's textbooks at college, if not the entire college fee at a Public school. It's not like you're gonna go waste the money on super market vittles!
PERSONAL EXPERIENCE: By filling in some forms, I got this special rate for phone, heat, gas water, sewer charges electricity. I was able to cut cash outlay to gas company by half or more for my entire gas use which entails a lusty furnace in winter, a four burner/ oven gas stove year round ( I cook twice a day for my cats to save on canned catfood as friskies canned meat is $1.80 an lb and Chicken meat is 59c an lb) ONe doesn't pay so high for that hot water heater outside run on gas. One of those babies can Cut bills down to 20$ a month as natural gas is cheap and I tub it, don't shower. Live alone
I hate to think what reg people pay. One month when I didn't even have the rent money, HEAP showed up to pay the entire DWP bill which was over 200$. HEAP is a Federal program and it paid my most costly DWP bill So pick your fattest bill of all. And CALL HEAP.
NOTE. I now turn gas water heater to Hot for 15 min only before I do dishes or take a hot bath, rest of time it's on LOW. I don't heat the house with gas furnace. I wear a parka.
I rent a small cottage, 1100 feet of house, 7,000 is YARD/ all planted by me so requiring daily water; I can get BILLED A LOT: the Dept Water and Power bill, for elec heaters, AC, fridge, HOME LIGHTING plus SEWER CHARGES plus WATER for an 8000 square foot property heavily planted, requiring water on 7,000 feet a day in warm weather (I am in a SoCal desert town THE SAN FERNANDO VALLEY temps in summer are 118. ) In 2011 WATER was up to 100$ a month for the poor people rate. And in Summer 2012, 150$ a month, but combine Elec & water, sewer and trash that figure shot to 330$. TODAY 2020 it is 400$ a two month billing period. I have the poverty rate. I hate to know what regular folks pay! You hear stories of 800$ bills! In 2011, I began to wander around house at night with flashlight. Cheaper than turning lights on in every room for a short walk. It's the TURN ON that's costly, not the LEAVE ON. Still, Don't leave TV's on when not in room. NO porch light at all, leave security screen door closed but WOODEN door is wide open. That allows any burglar who would come into jungly front yard, along path to see the lights in house, noise of TV. I Turn off PC when not using. Use those new spiral light bulbs . I made that change only and cut Elec bill to a third of what it was!Then State gifted me a low energy consumption Fridge and it went to half of THAT!
I do use an Electric oil heater (plug in) in winter just to the point room is slightly warm. Then I Turn it off. I do not use AC unless it goes over 110 outside but my best gambit is use hose on all trees front and back, up to 40 feet high. Every leaf. My yards are both jungles making an 8000 square foot refrigeration grid that instantly cools house. Leave all doors windows open all summer. I have a locking steel screen door! And screened windows. What's the point of living off the grid if a mosquito gives you Nile Virus?
And that's how I live on a $340 Social Security check at age 70. A 390$ check at age 80. In Los Angeles with $280 disability money coming in too.Was I stupid not to get a real job and have some ON PAPER "WORK QUARTERS' TV ACTING was maybe 35 days a year. Shoot a BONANZA in 6 days.
MY cutting utility bills in the face of CITY increasing costs inspired me to do one more thing. I have to water 7,000 sq. feet of land DAILY in hot weather but I can decide with WHAT WATER to some extent. I leave tub full all day, after morning bath. I Bucket it out the window abutting tub by standing in tub with bucket. If at night I want to splunk, I add 4 gallons hot, it's tolerable. Leave the water again. Next day Bucket it out to rose bushes just outside the bathroom. Now, not everybody has flower beds just outside the bath tub window, but I do. And I'm hoping I can get my $2.30 a day water bill down.
