They start with cookbooks at home with Mom, Auntie, Wife and sisters getting them started behind a sharp knife, then they go to work as fry cooks in Joe's Diner, then these unconscionable bastards work their way up as sous chefs at local eateries and as they save cash and attract fans who will invest, move toward owning restaurants, cafes, food trucks or even in the case of Chipotle's yuppie Burrito Czar Steve Ells, making BILLIONS with a CHAIN of a thousand + restaurants. A THOUSAND PLUS cafes? WOW. (Story is, McDonalds funded him early in the game, then just before he hit his crest, they divested of their un-burger related lines, freeing him to go for the bigtime when he owned himself.)
This means that you *(my maybe jobless friend), can go from where you're standing here today, not a dime in your pocket, to BEING STEVE ELLS ... as hey, 7 billion people on the planet, all of them hungry? They may not need a roof or coat or utilities to warm their bedrooms but they need a meal to warm their tummies! Build a better burrito and you will have customers!
And it doesn't stop at the burrito.Chipotle's menu consists of four other items: fajita burrito bowls, tacos, and salads, with a choice of chicken, pork carnitas, barbacoa, steak, or vegetarian ( guacamole). You could probably pick a few fave tummy tantalizers from any country, region or nation. For instance, the national 'street food' dish of India is a whole wheat pancake with spiced potatoes inside called a 'paranta aloo'. The national street food in Mexico is the HUARACHE, unknown in America... most ARABIC countries you'll get roasted lamb in 'a wrap'. In Egypt, Tacmiyya, falafel balls with garlic, onion and meat. In Israel it's wrapping up fried chick pea balls in a pita, called Falafel, dousing with sesame sauce. Let your fingers do the walking on the Net with search terms like 'favorite street food' + country name, you will find indigenous, fast-selling fast foods that will make you rich fast, in every third world country! Peruse the web and just do a cafe filled with what you find here at STREET FOOD INTERNATIONAL.
You don't need that $60,000 course at the Culinary Institute of America. *(which Steve Ells happened to have done btw,) --the newest trend is savvy, talented cooks diving right into the industry with just a few seasons of MASTER CHEF REALITY TV under their belt.
