I personally have two friends who were beat up by cops. One a redheaded New Yorker girl, the other a lanky Linolnesque vegetarian hippie meditator. Both were stopped in traffic, both people with surly, abrasive personalities, intransigent, one a lifelong activist, the other just a Bronx New Yorker in California. Her tough way of talking to authority figures, her Manhattan style of lip, drove a cop over the edge. This was before all those lawsuits for abuse or he wouldn't have done it. She was traumatized by the event.. That tough Broadway outside covers a gentle inside.But the cop only saw red. The vegan guy had endless court appearances as they searched his car and found a few pot seeds.
